Graduate Assistantship

In the spring of 2000, the John Donald Robb Graduate Music Assistantship program at the University of New Mexico was established to support the preservation and improvement of the John Donald Robb Archive of Southwestern Music and the Robb manuscript collection at the University Libraries’ Center for Southwest Research.  The program is open to qualified students wishing to study for a Master’s Degree in Music or Music Education.

The Assistantship offers:

  • Tuition remission for one year  
  • A stipend
  • It is a renewable position  

Graduate Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Improving Access to the Robb Archive
  • Assisting with the John D. Robb Composers’ Symposium and Composers’ Competition
  • Participating in educational and community outreach programming
  • Other duties as directed

Qualifications:

  • A qualified student pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music or Music Education
  • Experience and interest in composition and theory
  • Strong proficiency with technical equipment and computer software

Andrew SalettaThe Robb Trust Graduate Assistant for 2010-2011 is Andrew Saletta. Andrew completed a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Wyoming in 2005. At the University of New Mexico, he is studying for a Masters Degree in Composition with Dr. Christopher Shultis.

Andrew, a native of Colorado, comes to UNM after having taught General Music, Orchestra, and Choir ay Animas Valley and Ft. Lewis Mesa Elementary Schools in Durango, Colorado, for the past four years. He is fluent in Spanish and studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain, has traveled in Peru where he participated with a Peruvian Panpipe Ensemble in a commemoration of "El 27 de Junio", and pursues varied musical interests teaching, coaching, and conducting. While at the University of Wyoming, he was active with several performing groups and had two songs published in the University's Owen Wister Review.
